MONGOLIA

Mongolia lies in central Asia between Siberia to the north and China to the south. It´s a Land full of vast empty spaces, nearly double the size of Eastern Europe. It´s a country filled with horses, sheep, goats and shaggy yaks. Just a few hours away from any city one can encounter eagles and buzzards flying over head.

A large percentage of the country still lives a nomadic or semi nomadic lifestyle with horse culture being an integral part of it. The locals believe there´s a piece of God rooted in each horse.

This landscape is vast and breathtaking, with its mountainous regions to the north and west and the Gobi desert to the south and the famous Mongolian-Manchurian steppe.

ITINERARY

Day 1:

Meeting in Ulan Bator, Trip to the Khustai National Park, Healing Sessions
After meeting we will head off to the Khustai National Park. The Khustai National Park is located 110 km south of Ulan Bator City. It has been a nature reserve since 1993 and covers a 50 000 hectare area. It used to be known as the area of the Mongolian wild horses, the Thaki, the last living ancestor of the modern Mongolian horse. The Thaki is also known as the Przewalski horse, the species that once roamed the steppes of Central Asia and Europe.

Since 1968 it has been listed as extinct in the wild. The reintroduction of the Przewalski horse to the wild is part of the world-wide program of reintroducing endangered species to their Mongolian habitat. Currently, there are 300 specimens already breeding in the area.
Today, the Thaki is the only wild horse alive in the world.

The park is also bio-diversified regarding other species of rare wild animals and plants.
This provides an extreme abundance of wildlife in the park.

After the park we will be staying at a ger of a nomadic family where Aga will perform Healing Sessions for the group.

Day 2:

A trip to Elsen Tasarkhai / Semi Gobi, Healing Sessions
In the morning we´ll be travelling to Elsen Tasarkhai which is part of the Mongol Els Sand Dunes and is approximately 80 km long, located within the legendary Khungu Khaan and Bat Khaan mountains. The sand dunes portray the landscape, climate and the eco world of the Gobi desert. Here we will have the unique opportunity to ride camels across the sand dunes.

Day 3:

A trip to the Orkhon Waterfall, Healing Sessions
The Orkhon Waterfall (Ulan Tsutgalan) is over 25 metres high and over 10 metres wide. It is the largest waterfall in Mongolia and one of the most attractive destinations within the Orkhon River valley. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. The waterfall is located in Bat-Ulzii in the province of Uvurkhangai.

Its surrounding was formed by volcanic activities approximately 20 000 years ago. The waterfall combines the waters of two rivers: Orkhon and Ulaan. In the native language ¨Ulaan¨ means ¨red¨. That is why the locals named the waterfall ¨Red´s Flows¨.

Day 4:

Horse riding, Healing Sessions
We will be learning and riding Mongolian horses throughout the land´s wild, open steppe.

Day 5:

A trip to the Tsenker Spa, Healing Sessions

The Tsenker Spa is natural hot springs reaching 85 degrees Celsius all year long. The springs are the country´s second hottest and are located in central Mongolia, 28 km south of Tsetserleg town in Arkhangai province and 22 km south west of Tsenkher village. The pure water comes from far deep in the ground and the pressure pushes 10 litres per second. It has a very high mineral content, containing calcium, sodium and sulphur among others. It is believed that the springs have healing properties therefore they are a popular destination for many Mongolian people. They believe the water can heal joints, nervous system as well as cure many other diseases. We will be enjoying hot spa baths and relaxing.

Day 6:

A trip to Kharakhorum, Healing Sessions

We´ll visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery and the Kharakhorum museum which was established in 2011. Kharakhorum is one of the most important attractions of Mongolia. The town is located about 370 km to the west of Ulan Batar. It was founded in 1220 by Genghis Khan and was the capital of the Empire for 32 years. Erdene Zuu is the most ancient, Buddhist Monastery in Mongolia, located in Uvurkhangai Province. Today it´s the World Heritage Site. The monastery was built in 1585 by Abtai Sain Khan when Buddhism was introduced in Mongolia as the country´s religion. Stones from ruined Kharakhorum were used to build the site. It is surrounded by a wall containing 108 stupas as 108 is a sacred number in Buddhism. The monastery was damaged by a war in 1680´s but it was rebuilt in the XVIII century.
